Best AGP card

x1950pro is the favourtie. 7950gt is slightly quicker but about 50% more expensive. GeCube make an x1950xt but hear a lot of bad things about it. Apparently there is a hd3850 agp coming out very soon. If this is true then the 3850 will be the fastest.

X1950pro is the fastest commonly found card out now.

THe Gecube X1950XT is the fastest AGP card of all & the onyl problems reported have been heat related, so if you have good case cooling you shouldnt have any worrries.

Then there are reports of an AGP 3850 card coming as posted above .

It depends how much memory the card has; you'd struggle with 256meg but you'd be alright with 512. Like aceshigh and mame said though, it might be a good idea to wait and see if/when the HD3850 comes out in the AGP version is out what that can do. It should be quite a bit faster than the 1950's and the 7950's.

I here there are some new AGP cards due out soon with Nvidia's new bridge chip... anyone know any more info on this?

remember guys, it depends on what your existing setup is now as to whether it's worth upgrading an agp card. given how dirt cheap ddr2/pci-e boards/dual core cpus are, you could probably sell your old kit to some sucker on the bay and make enough to nearly pay for a whole new rig. :)

i have an agp x1950pro myself because when i was contemplating the whole upgrade last january, it would have cost me well over 600 sheets to upgrade to a basic dual core/2gb ram/x1950 card system. that same upgrade can now be done for 250 or even less.
