Best Albums of 2013

It's all about opinions, if you buy that whole origional artist vision stuff then your saying there can never be a good cover or a gret re-mix which we all know isn't true all I would like is a remix where the producer takes the base line and replaces it with something that matches the tempo of the song and the lyrics.

Hey you like it I get that but there is no need to react like I just crossed some line of common decency I just expressed an opinion on something someone posted online no harm no foul. Feel free to disect the couple of artists I've posted in this thread I promise not to rant and rave.

Hah, and to think I thought YOU were being the close-minded music snob for turning your nose up at anything with a whiff of dance or electronic in it, or strayed from conventional musical territories. Apologies. :p

Seriously?

I said a I thought a couple of specific DnB tracks would be better in my opinion without the bass line and you in your head have extrapolated that to mean I hate all dance and electronic music because I'm some sort of snob.

You on the other hand have used the phrases 'some indie band guitar drivel' and 'nothing but Coldplay-like muzak' among others, I think one of us is out in the open here as a genre hater and it certainly isn't me.

I'll let it go at that point, it's supposed to be all about the music after all and music is 99% opinion.

Ooof, well I got owned. Yes, let's move along.

Dont get the love for Etherwood's album, listened to it on the back of people here and its pretty dull by the numbers affair that most Hospital Records seem to have as of late. Certainly not a patch on Calibre as suggested above.

Each to their own of course, but their are considerably better pieces of work out there along the same vibe.

Technically on Med School which seems to be far superior than Hospital, can't think of a single bad release. The Lung album was great as was the Keeno EP and the forthcoming Royalston album is sounding really good.

I could reel off about 20 better Drum & Bass albums from last year that were better than Etherwood's but it seems to be fairly accessible without being a cheesefest which is a difficult balance to pull off.

Anyway, here's one for the people that liked Etherwood's album and something from one of my favourite albums from last year;

Listened to some Etherwood on youtube, the vocals let it down for me...I am not a electronic music listener so I'm probably missing the point.

The singer isn't very good.

Marillion - Sounds that can't be made. This is a return to form from the old proggers

Anathema - Universal. Not sure if you would class this as an album as I think it was a DVD/blu ray release that you could get the audio CD with it. I have the Blu-ray and it is absolutely fantastic. Very well produced for a live performance and has lots of energy.
