best 'allocation unit size'

I'm formatting a 500GB hard drive which I will be using as my primary C drive with windows vista 64 on it, so my question is which allocation unit size should I select, for the best performance?

Capacity: 465GB

File System: NTFS

Allocation unit size:

default
512 b
1024 b
2048 b
4096 b
8192 b
16 kb
32 kb
64 kb


So, does it make any difference at all? I think the default is 4096 as that is what was already selected. Thanks

if you have to ask this question then just stick to the default allocation size.
