I'm in the process of selling my Dell GX270 which I've been using for VMware and I'm also now thinking of getting rid of my AMD Athlon XP 2500 @ 3200, motherboard and Antec Sonata case etc. I haven't decided whether I'll sell it in parts or as a complete unit. I'll prob go for the parts option.

Basically I'm after a very quick Shuttle based system as I want to go back to minimal space.

What will also be included in the Shuttle system is

Black DVD-RW
Black FDD
Samsung 160GB Spinpoint drive SATA
WD Raptor 36GB SATA
2GB RAM

I'm not fussed about graphics card speed as I don't play games these days at all (whether I get back into it, who knows) but what I deffo do want is a DVI connection for my TFT possibly two as I'm either going to sell my Iiyama E431 17" TFT and go big or get a second one. I'm tempted with the second one at the moment as I can then leave the VMWare sessions on one screen and normal stuff on the other.

Suggestions please :) I also not wanting to break the bank with the latest Intel or AMD chips, but still something classed as good

although there is another which has built in gfx and skt 939 support for about 240 quid.

That looks really nice, mmm time to put my old barebones tower up for sale.

How much do you reckon it'll get

I'm hoping to get £200 for my GX270 Dell and I'd hope for around £130 for the above.
 
The ATi Express chipset runs flawlessly, if not as stable as the nvidia counterpart as used in the SN25P etc.

If you want get the ST20G5, use the onboard chipset and switch over to a bigger card when you can afford it; this way you'll save on buying a low end card just to get it to run (if you had the SN25P) :)

A very valid point.. Oh well time to see how much money I can raise :)
 
Well if you want your Black DVD-RW and Black FDD to match then go for the SN21G5. It's essentially the same thing as the ST20G5 but with the nForce 410 chipset and nVidia 6100 onboard graphics.

I haven't got a black DVD-RW yet, it'd be on the cards. Currently I have a black DVD ROM and CDRW.

That system does look nice though and it's cheaper. but then whatever system I get it must have DVI and the other system looks more future proof etc.
 
Just recently changed back to a full tower from my ST20G5. The chipset as stated above is flawless - had absolultley no problems what so ever with mine. The stock ST20G5 actually out performed my new mobo at stock (DFI UT Lanparty SLI-D) which is based on a NF4 Ultra chipset on 3DMark01 :)
 
Well I sold my Dell GX270 last night for £180, so that's contributed quite a significant amount.

but price up the parts, check other forums etc.

1gig pc3200 new is under 50quid now. ti4200 isnt great.
case is nice, but only 40-50 new?

work it all out and decide if splitting it or selling it complete is the best option.
surely someone you know would buy it?

even i would be tempted it if postage was free, and I was allowed to use the extended features of this forum ;) unfortunately my 250posts havent kicked in yet.

Nah I won't sell it in the forums, I'd sell it via the local paper or ebay, but looking at the prices I'll prob go for seperate parts etc. But with the Antec Sonata case include the CD / DVD within the sale etc.

Either the plan is for a much nicer system with minmal out lay :)
