Best alternative to onboard audio for gaming?

Do your speakers pop on Zoom when nobody is talking? Mine do, which is the main reason I'm here.
The same applies for anything that would normally output sound but goes through a quiet moment. Just pops away.

Is the Zoom sound quality on yours really that bad? Mine is fine aside from the popping. Other people's mics are the main issue for terrible sound. At least for me anyway.

No, I dont think its bad. I have two machines to compare, work laptop and mine.

I was just curious to see if a cheap upgrade would make it "much better"

I just upgraded my mobo, having issues using k702 with vmoda boom mic on my D2X, showing microphone currently unavailable in sound settings.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the maxedtech unified xonar drivers but no luck, maybe a fresh install of windows might do the trick, if that doesn't work what would be a good upgrade from D2X?
