Hi i have an fx-6100 at mo but want to upgrade can anyone advise on a faster amd for gaming and a bit of video editing learning please

thanks in advance

oh yea sorry that helps i have a gygabyte ga-78lmt 3 usb, 8gb ram there too if thats needed..

also i have 750w psu and a gygabyte gtx660 2gb gpu

psu is corsair and i have just updated all motherboard stuff as ive only just installed

Okay, but did that include flashing the BIOS to latest version? Just to avoid confusion as you weren't specific.

As Lude said - it might run an FX-8 (it is supported with latest BIOS) but it's really not a good motherboard* for it at all. I would stick with the FX-6100 until you can get a better board for a better processor.

pass lol i am a complete novice when it comes to computers and components..

i may aswell upgrade motherboard and cpu at the same time keep what i have for the kids and mincraft kill to birds with 1 stone so to speak.

I'm not sure I'd want to put an FX-8 in that board. It is a very cheap board with cheap power components, I used to have one with a 955BE.

so would i be better off with new board aswell...

can anyone point me??

is the fx-6350 not gonna be sufficient??

What is the rest of the system spec? :)

e; ah I see most of it above. What make/model is the PSU? :)

Do you have an overall budget in mind for the upgrade? :)

That is a decent PSU, so no problems there.

what components will you be needing?

I would assume, CPU or motherboard and CPU.

These:

Would do fine for example. :)

Or if you wanted to save a little more then something like this would be fine also:

I would personally go for the first option, as the CPU will run cooler and use considerably less power.
