Best and Worst of the World Cup?

No worries Tummy. :)

The best:

- Forlan
- Argentina
- South Africa scoring the first goal of the world cup
- The refereeing when the world cup began
- Ozil and Muller
- France imploding (what a waste of a place in the world cup..)

The worst:

- The abysmal performances of the African teams
- Spain cheating left, right and centre
- England not playing as a team
- The commentators on ITV and BBC
- The vuvuzelas
- The lack of atmosphere at the games
- The empty seats
- The treatment of the 36 Dutch women for wearing advertising for a non FIFA sponsor, I guess arresting them and it being broadcast around the world has really hampered the bit of marketing the company in question wanted to achieve... talk about being idiots ...FIFA
- The British media, hyping the England team up and then slamming them, building up Howard Webb as the sole remaining representative of English football to probably then crucify him back in the EPL when it starts up again
- The new football
- The current level of refereeing, it started so well but now it's back to the usual crap you see every week in every league now
- The lack of a new initiative to stamp out diving and simulation, if there was a time to introduce it, it was now, on the world stage to then be carried out across the world afterwards.. I guess that's too much hard work for FIFA

Best: The Carlsberg advert, and then BBC's Brian Blessed take on it.

Worst: Everything else. It's been a pathetic world cup. And those ****ing horns.

I've never been so underwhelmed by a big footie tournament in my entire life.

best

north korea verus brazil . they did the gaffer proud. even found myself leaping out my seat when they scored.

Maradona , never found a manager so amusing to watch. his team aint bad either...

the building up and shooting down of englands 'stars' by the media. they had it coming

worst

the ref who lost the plot during germany-serbia

ITV

have really enjoyed it overall. been lucky enough to watch some great matches and miss the few bad ones at the start

Best

John Terry with no desire to be walking in the future vs Slovenia
Frances performance was so terribly bad that it made us look better
Clarence Seedorf as a pundit

Worst

Some of the Referee decision with regards goals offside + England game
Frances performance
Edgar Davids as apundit

Best:
Diego Forlan
David Villa
Spain the Netherlands in the final
Italy going out in the group
Clarence Seedorf

Worst:
That so many games were on ITV.
Adrian Chiles
"Lawro"
North Korea getting thrashed by Portugal after such a promising start.

He's awful. I haven't heard him add any insight or information to any game he's commentated on. Relentlessly negative, screechingly indignant (for no reason), and unfailingly myopic when it comes to players outwith the premier league. I have absolutely no idea why he's employed. Never met anyone who likes him.

High's

- Germany in general
- Mark Lawrenson saying that Germany only had 2 players that were 'England' quality, minutes later Germany went 2-0 up.

Low's

- Thomas Muller's ridiculous yellow card for a handball, where as Messi did the same thing but worse and didn't get a card
- That disallowed goal (England)
- The goal that was offside (Argentina vs. Mexico)
- Many boring matches

Highs:

France going out
England living up to expectation

Lows:

Bees in my TV :( - completely killed the atmosphere of the game for me
Officials
ITV Coverage, especially Online quality

Best
Clarence Seedorf as a pundit

Worst

Edgar Davids as apundit

This is exactly what I was going to type. Seedorf was like a breath of fresh air, clever, articulate, knowledgable and generally pleasant. A bit like Leonardo was when the BBC drafted him in the other year. Davids on the other hand came over as a miserable git.

Other hilights were Robbie Earle getting the sack and John Terry's gang deserting him at the first sign of a bollocking from Capello.

Highs:

Chile's attacking style of play
Wesley Sneijder

Lows:

ITV coverage
Mark Lawrenson (Gets on my ruddy nerves)
Refs/Officials

Highs:

Germany out
Holland in final

Lows:

Monkey Trumpets
*** Sirens
Baboon Basoons

Spook Flutes
Cannibal Cornets
Jiggaboo Didgeridoos
