Best and Worst Sci-fi theme tunes

I'm probably the only person that thinks the Firefly them is pretty good right?

:D

may not be the BEST tune ever, but its certainly imo the best suited to the subject matter.

Although I agree, wtf were they thinking with the enterprise theme ...

Orbital remix is Dr Who theme is very good.

The title music for Event Horizon was pretty good too.

However, Buck Rogers surely wins the kitsch vote hands down! (but then again I still have a thing for Colonel Dearing, so I might be a bit biased there :o ).

I'm probably getting more into "scores" than just "theme tunes" with some of these, but...

Blade Runner
Aliens
Star Wars (esp RoTS)
Battle of the Planets
Dr Who

Worst....3rd Rock from the Sun. OK show - most annoying music EVER.

I love the Firefly theme :D. My "best" tune would definately be between that and Red Dwarf.

Enterprise is definately the worst though!

I think the Futurama episode is Bender Should Not Be Allowed on TV, but I'm not 100%. It's one of the season 4 dvds though.

The Firefly theme is awesome, only beaten by Red Dwarf.

Star Wars Imperial March
I'd have to say that's my fave - there's a bit in one of the original trilogy (pretty sure it's Empire Strikes Back) where it's playing in the background while there's a fleet of Star Destroyers assembling onscreen. Sends shivers down my spine everytime :D

I vote Terminator 2 as the best sci-fi theme tune :)

Alien(s) is always way up there but it's kind of an eery music that's only meant to be very atmospheric. But as a complete sound track, it's awesome.

Bear McCreary's music from the new Battlestar Galactica blows anything else out of the water. Go and get the series two soundtrack, its fantastic. Powerful music such as 'Prelude to War' gets the adrenaline flowing, mournful music like 'A Promise to Return' really help hit home how much the characters have lost. However other contenders are:

- The Terminator theme (best listened to during the firestorm in the opening credits of t2), der ner nerrrrrrrr, ner ner ner....
- Star Wars, Darth Vader's theme tune is probably known by every living person in the western world.
- Firefly, various music however oddly I wasn't fond of the vocals on the theme tune.
- The Fifth Element, the opera song.
- Star Trek: First Contact, Borg related themes that give you a feeling of horror and impending doom.

The worst music in Scifi has to be the theme tune from Enterprise. It's not as if Star Trek needed any more ammunition for the main stream to point and laugh at.

Terminator 2 and Stars Wars imperial march, both unforgettable and both bestow a sense of aww

Psst, I can send it you, if you don't have it

I find the theme music to the new BSG a bit limp to be honest. The old Battlestar music was top notch though. Stirring stuff and perhaps up there with the Imperial March...

But that was their attempt at making Star Trek mainstream :D

Anyway, I think we're all in denial. All together now... "It's been a long road...."
