Hi all, ive had a quick scan on the essential android apps thread and it seemed to be more focused around apps rather than games, so i'm just wondering if anyone can recommend to me any essential must have android games that will keep me busy on my tablet when i'm on long flights etc?

I'm open to any suggestions :)

On my last flight to China I played a game called " the room". It's a puzzle game with a bit of a story etc,I got really into it and completed it on the flight, helped me pass a good few hours completely unconscious of the time. Another game I really found engaging was drawrace2 hd (although I played the iPad version).

The Room is on my list actually along with Worms 2. They're the only two i've earmarked to get.

Are there any good "Sim City" style games available for it?

Fairly old, but I've had Hill Climb Racing on my phone for ages and they keep it updated quite well.
Also like a few of the Djinnworks stickman games - Downhill (mountain biking) is the most recent / probably the most polished.
Galaxy on fire 2 is also pretty good, with a fair bit of depth... kind of like Eve, but not online ;)

Just checked out a review of that Sina Mora which looks awesome! Will be purchasing that for sure :) I'll have a look at Shadowrun Returns too!

PvZ 2 (Free) - And if you like it PvZ1
Where's my Water? 2 (Free) - And if you like it, Where's my Water? 1, Where's my Perry?, Where's my Mickey?
Cut The Rope (Free with ads) - And if you like it, Cut The Rope: Experiments, Cut The Rope: Time Travel
Pudding Monsters

Another vote for Kingdom Rush - also, Jelly Defense, World of Goo and Organ Trail

The Bard's Tale is pretty fun, especially as you're playing on a Tablet. Piggin' awkward on a small phone screen, though!

Mass Effect Infiltrator was wicked fun!!! A friend used to come round to play Mass Effect on my PC, so while he did that I'd kick back on the sofa and play this on my phone. Tablet should be brilliant!!

Spy Mouse kept me entertained for weeks on a casual, 10-15 free minutes here and there basis.

Judge Dredd is simple but pretty good.

StarPagga is basic, but solid fun with reasonable replay value.

Predators is just addictive!

Pool Break Pro - Pass a good half-hour. More if you're into your snooker/pool-type games.

Backstab HD - Good if you like Assassins Creed and are good with a touchscreen.

If you can get WiFi:
Blood And Glory - Roman Gladiators!!!
Dark Legends - Silly 'Vampire The Masquerade' type MORPG thing, yet strangely addictive.

emulator + roms is always another alternative

Don't think we're allowed to discuss emulators on OcUK? Certainly not in the PC games section anyway.

I quite like SpeedX 3D which is a trippy racing game where you have to avoid obstacles rather than cars. Shows off the Galaxy SII hardware quite nicely, although I have an S4 now. Will have to find a game that stresses the S4 :-) Any ideas?

There is of course Angry Birds, but everyone knows about that now as it's been on Android for a couple of years now. Lots of sequels now though if you haven't checked them out - Rio, Seasons, Space, Star Wars and Star Wars II. A spin-off to Angry Birds is the "Bad Piggies" game, where you build a vehicle / contraption that is capable of transporting a pig from A to B. It is still a physics game and you get up to 3 stars like as normal depending on criteria e.g. if you can reach A to B in once piece, or collect an item on the way.
