So booted up and the BIOS pings up with an smart error message, never cought 100% what it said as i shut down very quick.

So she is on her way out what i need to know is does anyone have an idea of an app i should use to see what is on that drive?

I'm not worried about getting any data off just want to know what was on it, also should i run it as an internal drive or have up hooked up externally, also would it help having it running of the intel SATA ports or does that not matter

MB is an Asus Z87 Deluxe and HDD is a WD40EZRX taken out of an Elements external drive.

OK thanks for your tips guys, it's a 4TB drive that has gone, and don't have a spare 4TB hanging about so i have just bought a 4TB WD Black (£200 ouch!) and will start work on it as soon as i get the drive on Thursday, give me some time and i will post back with results, fingers crossed for me.

In future, have a backup of your data!
I do to some degree about 60% but it's not the physical stuff on there that bothers me it's not knowing what i have lost if you get my drift, also not everyone can afford to spend £400 on a twin set of 4TB's
