I have ClamAV, but get like around 2000 threats found & that seems excessive... Are all of them real or a lot false positives??? I have bitdefender for windows & when it scanned, only 3 threats in results... So major mahor deference... Plus, windows is not OMG slow so there is that...

I would have thought it's better to scan from within Windows to find running processes.

Some AVs will detect a large number of things like cookies with tracking data, misc temporary internet files that aren't actually harmful in most cases, etc. etc. as viruses :s any number of hits should concern you though even if there is a discrepancy (unless it is all stuff like cookies).
