Best AVI to home DVD software

As title really, I have some AVI files I'd like to convert and burn for use on a home DVD player, would prefer a free piece of software but will shell out if necessary. Thanks in advance.

By far the most popular piece of software on these board's has got to be WinAvi video converter, the current version is 7.5. WinAvi is a one click operation and oh so fast :cool:

WinAvi is not free but it is a quality product.

The FilmMachine with CCE but does come with free encoder it you want to use that instead

Winavi or svcd2dvd. I prefer svcd2dvd because it allows you to use many more formats than just one with an avi container.

Nero6 ***, re-encodes all my div-x's etc no problem!

I used nero for a while, was slightly faster but the quality was awfull compared to svcd2dvd.

Hi ..I use Converttoxdvd it great ! even can add your own menu background to make them look like brought cpoies ,highly rate it ,plus its fast ,aslo WinAvi as said on here is great too !

Its not freeware ,but its worth evey penny,i use it to add menus and change my AVI files to DVD.

WINAVI is fast but doesn't do menus and it also converts most formats into other formats. ConvertXtoDVD is very good and does simple menus. I'd recommend both.

I'm rocking CinemaCraft. Tried a whole load of encoders (many many) and this was the only one that didnt give me hastle with audio/video sync.
