Hi Guys

Following a bit of a nightmare with my computer being unusable for the day, due to an update that went awry, I am looking for a back up solution. I would only need to back up a single 1tb drive. What would be the best solution?

I have some spare 3.5 inch hard drives and an external enclosure for connecting these to my pc via usb, but perhaps there are better solutions.

Thanks

Just to add, in would be a mirror of the drive in question so should Windows go awol again, I can re-install from a backup.

Hi Micky Any particular software to use for home backup? What are the preferred cloud services? I presume I would use local backup for the morror and cloud for individual folders?

Thanks Micky, I shall check out acronis.

Disco, yes a backup of the whole c:drive, so about 780 gig. I note that other than the first backup, future backups only update files which have changed, which is handy. Will check out veeam.

Thanks Mcnumpty. I have run a full drive image with Macrium, how do I create a rescue disk/access boot menu? Is this an just an option in software?

I dont need extensive backups really, I dont hold a lot of personal documents on this PC. Just want the ability to restore to a useable system should something go awry.

I have a b550i motherboard, can I assume this will have fast enought usb ports? it has a single USB 3.2 type c and standard 3.2 ports. If fast enough will look at the Samsung T7.

Thanks guys, sorry missed these posts. Yes, my system is all NVME.

I have created the rescue media/boot menu. How would this work if the system goes down? I thought it would create a rescue disc on a usb or something, so if all failed, I could boot from usb then copy the image across.

I may have a look over the weekend. It may be best just backing up my windows install. My only issue is that my c drive has both my install of windows and games etc. I think if I only backed up my windows install it would be minimal.
