Best backup image software

Ive had of enough of having to reformat my computer everytime it gets cluttered or problems start to arise.
Which software would you guys recommend.

Is acronis still the best when it comes to make backup copy images of the OS, or is there something better out there?

It is entirely subjective. I personally use Macrium Reflect. There is a free version, though the website doesn't make it obvious. Just search for Macrium Reflect Free and it will be the top hit in Google.

If you're on Vista/W7 the built in backup is fine for this purpose.

as said, if your using win 7 there is a backup image built in

you can set it to run on a schedule to a backup drive \

sorted.

I use and recommend Handy Backup, it's a reliable image backup software, and works great.

Macrium Reflect cant reccomend this highly enough, its free and i have never had any issues restoring an image very user friendly and simple to use.

Active boot is also a really good image backup, it has its only mini windows interface which is kinda cool and easy to use, you can just restore certain files from an image or the whole image its self, the only draw back here is its not free

I am also looking for a backup program. Do these programs update the backup as well. e.g If i delete a file on the master disk will it delete the item on the backup as well, or update a files properties?

Also can you select which files you back up without backing up your whole drive?

Someone mentioned w7 backup, I have used this and when it has backed up the drive for the first time, if you go and edit files e.g. (replace a music file with the same properties but better quality 320kbs to flac). then it will keep the original backup and then insert the newly updated file along side it. Therefore not deleting the now redundant file (the one at 320kbs even though it has been deleted on the 'master' disk)
