best backup software??

Manually to DVD once I've got 4Gb of related material. Paths containing stuff which hasn't gone to DVD get copied to an external drive using ViceVersa Pro (similar to synctoy).

I agree with that on true image. It has a good User State management console and a quick restore function if you have the space on the boot drive to use that part. Also with the latest release you can use a Try&Decide function without mucking up any of your existing settings. The Try & Decide allows you to install and try software virtually. The only Bug being once you have rebooted you have to start all over again.
Windows Backup is okay if you have Ultimate then you can use the Image backup mechanism, on any other version you have basic file backup. Not exactly what I would be resorting to if it was just on Premium or Basic.
Pressing F11 on startup brings up Acronis recovery console and you can do a recovery on the fly.

i use ntbackup.exe (built into xp but i've copied the files and am using it in vista) for folder/file backup. i don't bother with imaging my OS partition.

Question:
Haven't worked out the full ins and outs of TrueImage yet but is this only available when using the quick restore function? Asking because my Disk images are on a different partition.
