Hi All,

I know the spec below is not great by today's standards & was a bit of a budget build back in 2012. Don't want to shell out a fortune as just spent £700 on a computer for the nipper

What would be the next logical upgrade, Grafix card maybe could possibly sneak £200 without my significant other having throwing a hissy :D

Its not a build, its just upgrade for mine. Current spec is in sig below.
just a bit of general gaming, Currently Playing Rising Storm Red Orchestra, Americas Army proving Grounds, Insurgency, Rainbow 6 Siege & Fallout 4 Shortly

It's okay. Well if its mostly gaming your CPU is fine, overclock it if you haven't that'll give you a bit of a boost.

Other than that you've got an SSD, sufficient RAM (although I am beginning to run into RAM issues but it's only one game so 8 should be fine for now)

Your best path is GPU really. £200 isn't a great deal tbh it would get you a 960 or 380/380x. If you can squeeze an extra 50 in you'll be looking at a 970/390 which are very good cards.

Or to avoid the other halves disproval finance a 980ti and just pay it back over a few months ;) If you use BNPL there is no interest for 12 months ;)

SSD and faster RAM would be the best move, you wouldn't find a card better than a 780ti for £200.

EDIT: Not sure where but I got confused with you already having a 780ti.
EDIT2: Read the wrong signature. :p

As he didn't have mm access I didn't recommend a second hand 780ti purely because they go for so much on ebay, but if you can find a 780ti for that price it'll be a well worth upgrade. :)

I'm not sure which way to go really with the Nvidia / AMD fan boys will always big up their favored brand. I've always gone down the Nvidia route and never really had a problem.

Was looking at the new 380x's or Nvidia 960s, am I wasting money or should I just squirrel a bit away and get 780, space in the case isn't really a problem.

Most reviews say the 380's are better with upcoming DX12.

I personally am a bit of an Nvidia fan boy but thats not strictly because of Nvidia it's because of EVGA. But yes technically the 380 has more potential due to Nvidia kind of lying about DX12 support but not.

If you are okay with maybe upgrading your GPU again in another year or two, which you will likely have to do in either case, maybe go for a 780ti, make sure to try and grab a ti though, it may be harder to get in the 200 budget due to having to use fleabay you should be able to get one and it'll be worth it.

A 780ti is on par with a 980 in pretty much every instance or better, however it only has 3gb VRAM but at 1080p you should be okay.

Two really good gpus for the price. The 380x is faster and if you wanna get the most performance then amd is the way to go as at this price point nvidia aint put a card here really (until the 960 ti comes out).

Ok just before I pull the trigger still cant make my mind up regarding the 380 / 380X's.

Snookums did suggest a 970 / 390 but all budget 390's are out of stock, what about something like one these 2

970's looking favorable at the moment as it looks like its got a "free" game as such - is this offer still on.

Oh and one last thing My PSU is a OCZ 600 SXS2 would that comfortably handle either the above or even a 390

the 970 will be epic if you can get it but a 390 i think would be better but you deffo would be fine with the 970 and your psu is good enough.
