Hey.

Pretty much wondering, what in the name of sanity is the best AA 1.5V battery? the ones I have at the moment "powercell" die in about 3 - 6 days in my wireless mouse... = anger levels rising.

Are duracell the best? is it better to get rechargable batteries? at the moment I dont have a charger or anything...

Pretty odd post I guess ;/

Get 4x 2500mAh rechargable batteries, and a charger.

Charge all four, then use two. When the 1st pair die, charge them while using the 2nd pair.

Might be an idea to pair the batteries together, too.

How much would I be looking at for that? a friend told me to get a Duracell one plus a few batteries for like 25 pounds or something :/

Ansmann Rechargeables are by far the best brand I’ve come across; they sell the some of the highest rated mAh solutions for all commercial sizes (2700 for AA 1.5’s are about £15 for a pack of four) and perform at the stated voltage for nearly the stated time even after 2000 cycles.

Their chargers are a bit expensive but it’s a one time investment. As the poster above says, it may be wise to just get into the habit of using rechargeables in such a way that you always have some ready to swap in. You will end up saving money if you find yourself replacing batteries often in the current situation.

Your mouse must be way too power-hungry. Mine (Intellimouse Explorer 2.0) lasts a good 6 months with the above batteries.

Hmm, well I havent really heard of the brand "powercell" before, they seem to be some cheap batteries that were brought off a market or something lol.

I am using an MX610 wireless at the moment...

Thanks for the advice people... recharbales for the win then :P

I normally find duracels are best in things like wireless mouseses. Rechargeables don't stay charged once charged up so in things like mouseses they won't last as long as a duracel which doesn't go flat by itself.

They're Duracell's. :D

Just got Duracell Plus in my wireless, last 6 months a time :p

Microsoft > Logitech at power consumption it would seem :D

Make sure you use Nickel Methal Hydryde or Lithium Ion ones as opposed to Nickel Cadmium ones, as they hold the output voltage for longer. Often Nickel Cadmium ones will drop their output voltage slightly, making the batteries appear to the device as if they are empty, when infact they might be half full.

Hmmm, there is certainly something odd. Because these batteries are lasting days (literally) while the Duracells that I got with the Mouse a few months ago (the classic Gold/Black ones) lasted for a couple of months or so.

The longest lasting battery is Energizer Ultimate Lithium for a non rechargable AA battery.

It last 7 times longer than a standard Alkaline, where as Duracells leading battery the "Powerpix" is only 3 times longer lasting than a standard alkaline.

MiMH as messiah Kahn said are the way to go with rechargables due to no memory effect and are not as prone to dendritic shorting as Cadmium. Energizer do a fantastc compact charger which has 4 slots, 2 on the front and 2 on the back, meaning it does not take up a lot of plug socket space.

Thanks! I just found this for £10! comes with 4 batteries (1700) to... even though the batteries it comes with aren't great they will do the job, even if I have to recharge them over night or something.

ASDA have a rechargable card board promotional shipper, with the 2000mAh version going for £10.00.

I've seen Powercell batteries before. Made to look like classic Duracells (gold top, similar font), but the ultimate in dodgy market knock-offs. You can get about 20 for a few pounds and they all last about five minutes. utter rubbish.

Get some Duracells, as said. For low usage items like a mouse, they'll last ages.

i dont see the point in buying regular batteries..at all. rechargable's last months in a mouse. if you want an example of a high-drin appliance, my fuji s5500 will take ~10 pictures with flash using 4 duracell ultra's before showing the low battery warning. by 15 pics its dead. On 4x 2500mAh rechargeables, i can take ~250 pictures....

lol powercell batteries, the one's that places like everythings a £ sell (not to confuse with poundland as they do sell decent batteries) made from cardboard and wil power a clock for about 2 mins before they die or start to leak.
