I'm in dire need of a new Hard Drive (my 160GB is running out). Preferably 500GB or 1TB. I don't really want to spend loads of cash, so what would you guys recommend as cheap yet well performing? I was looking at the 1TB Spinpoint F3 but I'd like some expert advice as well. Thanks!

I can recommend the Samsung f4 2tb and the f3 1tb,used lots and very quiet drives

I've recommended those drives numerous times in the past before the price rises.

Currently the F3 1TB costs a fair bit more at OcUK than those I listed above.

Those I listed are also the latest models and seem to offer some performance benefits.

The F4 2TB is also now a fair bit more expensive than some of the other 2TB drives.

Yes your right but I havnt used those other drives so can't comment, plus I only paid £46 new for my 2tb no way id pay todays prices

I would have gone for one but like Surveyor said they're a tad expensive relative to some of the other possibilities out there.

It's a massive shame really since I only managed getting around to buying the components for my PC shortly after the HD prices had gone up. My budget was tight at the time so I was forced to buy a second hand 160GB hard drive temporarily. I had seen the 500gb F3 at something like £30 prior to the inflation. And I can't wait much longer since I have only something like 10GB of space left!

Have a good look around,I've seen some reasonable priced used drives, aslong as they have warranty on them your ok

Btw you could buy a pack of dual layer dvd's and burn all your files/films/music to those and free up some space
