Best Car Experiences?

More fun to go to a good go-karting track :D

Then at least you get to race other people and drive as mental as you like, you won't in these.

I did one not too long ago. It was a gift, drove a Gallardo on an airfield.

I say airfield, but it was actually a tiny corner of an airfield that you didn't even have enough straight to get into decent digits. The car was also absolutely trashed. Ripped seats, worn metal and plastic inside the cabin, brakes that squealed during application moments that they normally shouldn't squeal, and each lap lasted some 5 minutes, if even that.

If you find one that offers a better "circuit", then don't choose a Gallardo. It's not as amazing as you might think it to be.

I did one a few weeks ago which I got for Christmas, which I was dreading I'd one day get being a 'car person'. And It was pretty much as I expected. I had 3 cars, each car was about an hour and a half to queue for. It was at Rockingham, 3 laps each but with one outlap and one inlap, there was basically only one full lap which was over with very quickly, by the time you got the feel of the car on the 3rd lap it was done. The Gollardo I drove was pretty ruined, the trims inside were all covered in black tape, it had done close to 100k miles and I was being told to change up a gear at like 4k rpm!

Overall it was very crap and I'm glad it's over and done with. I would much prefer an hour karting session.

A minimum 15 miles total drive distance

Dire

Where do you see minimum? All I see is 15 miles. I wouldn't be surprised if these guys stop you half lap to take the car back, or let you finish and then charge you a tenner per 100 yards extra.

These days are about cramming as many people into the cars as they can and giving people who will in the main probably never get close to owning these cars a millisecond of what they are missing. For me they are contrived and really poor value and frankly you will never get close to a proper experience of the cars. For some it might be a wow moment, but for most it's very meh and usually always a story of limited seat time and 4K rev limits. My car doesn't properly wake up till it hits 5k and most the Italian stuff is the same. I know a few guys who coach at these events and none of them would waste their money on buying this for friend or family. Nuff said really.

15 miles represents a typical out lap, medium pace lap, back in lap for 3 cars combined. That's your experience spread across these cars. To do this sort of thing properly target 450 quid and head to Palmer or 250 and go rallying at Phil Price or suchlike.

Done a few of these days (gifts, would never buy myself) and just as someone else mentioned they're a bit meh - had more fun thrashing my RX7 to one of the days than I did driving the very tired Gallardo/F430 sedately once I got there and queued for 20 mins.

The rally day I did at Bill Gwynne though was awesome, full day with loads of seat time :)
