Best card @ £130?

I'm not sure if you're willing to go over 130 slightly but I saw the brand new, just released Gigabyte GTX 960 go for 150. That would be a seriously good performer for the price. Alternatively R9 280s can be found for around 130.

Edit: Yeah that R9 270 seems good.

Thanks for the input so far, guys. PSU-wise he's running a fairly decent 600Watt Seasonic model. 960 might be good but would only go extra if it was superior to the others. Otherwise, that 270x seems ideal.

280 will be better. 280x is a 3gb card compared with the 260 which is 2gb. More vram would be better for higher quality textured games

Performance wise a 270X can overclock to stock 280 levels but the vram is going to matter with the multi platform games coming soon so the £15 extra for a 280 is worthwhile.

A 7970 is the same as a 280X so if you were ok with b-grade then that is by far the best buy.

He's not having it. Says that they're "too old". I've told him that if he's determined to go current then he's getting less for his money but it's got to be recent and not "out of date". Stupid decision...

I'm guessing that he's going to be restricted to the cheapest 960 then? I'm not sure if AMD have had anything to to compete with that in the past 6 months?

The cheapest GTX960 is around £160.

If you are paying for it,get the card you think is the best. When he is buying his own cards,he can make his own decisions.

Basically the 7970 A.K.A 280X is best card you can get for that money. Anything else like the 270, 270X, 285 is literally a cheaper made 280X with less power and video memory. They've pretty much just put a different badge on it and given you less for your money but more in their pockets.
