    Hey

Right now I've got an 8800GTS 640meg, but I think it's on its way out! If I play intensive games at 1920x1200 it tends to pack up after about 30 minutes. What's considered the best card for games at high resolutions? I'd love to try and max Far Cry 2 out as much as possible in the next couple of weeks!

Will my processor be a bottleneck? e6600 Dual Core? Don't really want to replace that right now though

    4870, 4870X2 or a GTX280. Pick one. :)

4870 1gb would be a good choice as it's much cheaper than the other 2 and can keep up quite a bit with the GTX 280 in some games.

Cool, the 4870 is tempting - although I've always stuck with Nvidia cards in the past! Any brand in particular?

    I'd guess the cheapest.

Well I'd like the quickest out the box really, as I think I ballsed up the last card with overclocking :D I might take it easy this time!

Hiya LoadsaMoney, that's very much dependent on the game. :)

Crysis on 1920*1200 on ultra with 2x ATI 3870 in crossfire. Solid frame rate 95% of the time. No stuttering at-all. Only have to reduce post processing to HIGH from ultra & runs mint again.

I've got a 24" and extremely happy with my 4870 X2, even Crysis runs fine :)

Right, I'm all ready to go for the 4870 1gig, but I'm a bit unsure on the whole PCI Express 2.0 thing. I'm pretty sure my rather dated ConRoeXFire-eSATA2 is only PCI Express 1.0. Will it still be compatible?

Yeah it is, but the 4870 is faster in a lot more at that res than the 280.

Id personally go for the 4870 as Nvidia's GT200 series are not worth buying. :)

Cool - performance wouldn't be noticeably worse then?

No. With a single card, it'll be 5% at most.
