Not sure if I've seen anything about this on the forums before, but I'd like to sort of get peoples views on what the best fans for CFM/dbA at all levels.

So, basically, ultra quiet with moderate CFM, slightly louder fans but with better CFM and then full blown noise be damned High CFM fans of various sizes.

Guess I'll start it off.

80mm = Akasa 80mm Paxfan 21.15 cfm/18.08 dbA

92mm = Akasa 92mm Amber Series 29.0 CFM/ 18 dbA

120mm = Akasa 120mm Amber Series 44.8 CFM / 18.0 dbA

this is for the slient catagory...anybody wanna try and better it?? :D

Never trust what they advertise the fans as. If you want on paper the best CFM to dB ratio then look up SilenX fans, nothing beats them but in reality they are a big dissapointment.
I haven't owned many fans to compare but certainly 120mm Ambers get my vote as a very quiet fan.

Nexus which are 10v yate loons are very good as are Aerocool turbine 1000 fans. Around 1db louder than the nexus with similar airflow (based on reviews, not specs) and a fair bit quieter than the Akasa Amber 120mm

80mm - Yate-Loon
92mm - Yate-Loon
120mm - Yate-Loon
140mm - Yate-Loon

Anyone see a pattern

Add in the fact that they can be sourced at around £3.50 each delivered (if purchased in qty of 5 or 10) i think they are the best fans going

Mid noise - Panaflo L1 or M1 , Delta 0.4A variety

High CFM - Delta HE ... no contest :D

jellybeard999, why that makes you just a god darn Yate-Loon fan boy why don't it?!

;)

Anybody see what I did there?

IGMC, yep, that's the one, the blue anorak on the left...

Oh yeah, My favourite 80mm fan is the Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000, and my favourite 120mm fan is the Akasa Amber or a Xinruilian 0.40a run at 7v, good airflow with minimal noise.

Coolink Fans IMO are the best fans I have ever owned.

Quieter than amber series and shift just as much air, they are cheap and come with a 4 pin - 3 pin converter and also a PCI backing plate which has a speed controller.

Yate Loon and the Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000 120mm fans. For 80mm the Silent Eagle 2000 is very good. The Silent Eagle 2000 120mm fans with Fan mates are very good too.

Had more than enough ambers to say that the 120mm ones ain't quiet ;)
