I don't recall there being any dogs in Streets Of Rage 1, 2 or 3

Mind you I forgot to say there were different versions of this game on the standups. Some versions did not have the dogs and the bandits in !!

2 standout for me:

Midnight Resistance.
Aliens.

Nuff said.

What a couple of classics !
I won a trophy down one of my local arcades for Aliens top score (completed it twice over on one credit) :p
Could never get the hang of Midnight Resistance though ! :( NITRO !!

to add to my earlier track and field,

Kick n Run - pedal based football game, was genius with 4 players.

Bubble Bobble - If i could ever get on it, it was heavenly, my friend once played so long I came up to him to ask if he was nearly done and he had a streak of pee running from his leg half way across the arcade.

Star Wars - The sit down version was awesome.

Initial D
Daytona USA

Initial D because of the soundtrack and some crazy drifiting.

Daytona USA because no other games you arcade experience like Daytona USA.

So many classics

TITLE: Double Dragon
REASON: Brilliant 2 Player

Close the thread, we have a winner. I used to love two player with my mate down Ballestrazzi's cafe, elbowing the gibbons (what we used to call the big sloth from the goonies lookalikes into submission. Lost count of the number of times I clocked it. The only games that came close for me were Golden Axe and New Zealand Story. Far too many 10p's spent on them to recall.

Double Dragon was great up until you realised that using the elbow beat everything, then it just became a run through of elbow anything that moves.....shame!

afterburner in that moving arcade unit that spun you all over the place was pretty amazing back in the day.

edit:

who else remembers playing paperboy with the handle bars? heh

F355 Challenge or Prop Cycle :D

Reason - just because...

Damn right, more F355 than Prop Cycle though.

F355 is the best racing game ever (not played the new Project Gotham but I didn't see any reviews that make me think it'll trump Sega's masterpiece).

Also, Puzzle Bobble, it's great!

What was the footie game with the roller ball. Used to love that too. Also a boxing game where you held the hand grips and punched.

i am so glad that this thread has touched so many peoples hearts.... :p

all great games mentioned....

but have we any older members who used to spend there life playing....

Anyone else remember the "sounds" of the arcade....all hustle and bustle.... :D

i used to remember as soon as you walked in you could hear the Golden Axe game when that guy shouts "whooouo"....you know what i mean.... :p

cheers :)

I remember playing Space Invaders but I didn't spend my life playing it :p The oldest arcade game that I used to love was Defender :)

I wonder how technically advanced an arcade would have to be nowdays to pry ppl from thier livingrooms away from next gen consoles.. :(

Pity really... That said you dont get scumbags hanging round your living room sniffing solvents and going.. Nudge that/take that feature... ;)
