best compact camera?

What's the best compact camera on the market at the moment? Price is of

My Canon Ixus 50 is beginning to show it's age and wear, so I'm in need of a good replacement...

I dont know about the best, but I would stick to the Ixus range I think there surperb cameras.

Ixus 50 is such a good camera, I'm not sure you would get 'much' improvement with newer models.

Mm.. I'm currently weighing up whether or not to wait for the upcoming Fuji, or get one of the Canon models mentioned.

It so happsn that I've used the IXUS 50 quite a bit, but I never found the picture quality to be that great.

OK, I'm not sure if it is normal for a ultra compact cameras.

Despite some rave reviews, I got Fujifilm F11 for my girlfriend over a year ago but I found the picture quality to be shocking poor with loads of CA (purple) and overblown highlights. Stopped down to f4, it is better but then, the flash is poor hence why it comes with high ISO.

I think the best way to find a suitable camera is to pop down your local camera shop with your memory card and try out few cameras on display then get home, download photos from card and see which you prefer.

If you're desperate for an upgrade I'd go with the IXUS 850. Well actually that is what i went for! It's got a super wide lens (for a compact) and IS! Two things the IXUS 900 model doesn't have.
