Best Country to VPN to ?

As title, as the UK is losing its ******* mind & turning into right wing surveillance hell, what's the best country to VPN to? A place where they are sensible, liberal & doesn't have mass surveillance on its population.
 
Maybe I don't understand VPNs correctly, but I am sure if you VPN yourself to a UK server you will still obscure your location etc to anyone but your VPN provider. PureVPN make a point of advertising that they DONT monitor or log what you are doing. Not sure if the legislation will change this?

If you VPN to a UK server all your traffic will look like it is coming from their servers.
So then any data requests would go to that company. Now if they dont monitor or log anything then if a requests goes in asking for what user accessed xx.xx.xx.xx on x date then the VPN company cant give that information over as they dont have it.

So it really comes down to how much information a VPN company holds on you and for how long.
 
Yeah, fair enough, but id still rather VPN to elsewhere, speed isn't an issue, im currently connected to an EU country at 99.5% the speed of my normal line, so, no different.

It's more a question of which countries have sensible internet laws really.
 
India doesn't seem to log anything. Internet piracy it rife over here, and nothing is monitored.

I know the ISP that I use over here doesn't log anything at all.
 
VPN providers aren't ISPs so they never have to record user data as far as I can tell.

Also I would guess the server location doesn't matter as much as where the provider is based. Example: I use Fastmail for email, they're headquartered in Australia so even though they run their main servers out of NY they don't have to respond to US data requests.

So I would say pick your provider based on how much you trust them rather than where their servers are. If you trust your provider it shouldn't matter which server you pick. As above I can't see why you shouldn't just use UK ones.

Labour and the left are just as bad over this, its certainly not a right wing thing.
 
anywhere apart from 5eyes countries.

I would recommend romania,luxemburg,czech or switzerland.
the further out also bare in mind latency issues.
