best cpu cooler for my new build?

Hi,

I'm putting together a new pc but can't deside on the cpu cooler.
A few details:
-case is a Aerocool XPredator black edition
-Asus Maximus V Formula
-I7 3770k (plan to oc it as high as the cooler will allow me)
-corsair 8gb 1866mhz

As the title says, I'm looking for the best cpu cooler to put in it.
So far I've looked at the following coolers:
-Noctua NH-D14, Thermalright Silver Arrow, both good coolers it seems, but ugly
-Dark Rock Pro 2, better looking then previous 2 but seems it doesn't perform as good as them, also don't know if i'll get problems fitting it due to the memory (could be to high to fit this cooler , don't know)
-Scythe Mine 2, imo best looking of these 4 but again less performance :/

Another thing is, since i'm putting a 200mm fan in the side panel, would I have enough room left to fit such a big cooler?

Any advice is welcome. if I can't have an excellent cooler which is also good looking then I'll problably take the better performing one, as long as I'll be able to fit it .

Have also been looking at some watercoolings.
The problem is the case can't fit the bigger radiators and I'm not eager to place it outside the case.
I'm probably able to fit 2 140mm radiators from ek water blocks in the case (1 in the back and 1 on the bottom), would that be enough to oc the cpu at 4.4 or 4.6?

Also what would be the best way to hook the 2 rads up then?

1: res -> pump -> rad1 -> cpu -> rad 2 -> mb -> back to res

2: res -> pump -> rad1 -> rad 2 -> cpu -> mb -> back to res

3: res -> pump -> cpu -> rad1 -> mb -> rad 2 -> back to res

4: res -> pump -> cpu -> mb -> rad1 -> rad 2 -> back to res

Better looking? Blasphemy! Nice price though and PWM fans is lovely bonus. My vote still goes to the D-14, had it for a year and a half and won't be changing it unless I put my PC under water. If you don't like how the D-14 looks then get the K2! I personally don't think you can go wrong with any of the top air coolers.

Also, Noctua are a nice company to deal with and the D-14 is very quiet. I asked them for some more fan clips to add a 3rd fan and they sent them to me in 4 days. :) I find it really easy to install also.

I need clips too where do you ask them for some and do they ask for the receipt ? or will a pic of the cooler and box and serial number etc do ?

Email [email protected] and post screenshot of invoice/receipt of purchase and ask for fan clips, they should reply back within a day saying they have posted tbh. Post em for free, took 3 days for mine to come, then I found out another fan only drops 1-2c xD but I will put 1 on anyway just need to choose which noctua fan to put on the back.

The clips even come with the noise dampening strips.

K2
TC14
SA SB-E
D14

shake them up in a bag and dump them out. TC14 and SA SB-E will land first but will need a photo finish tell for sure where all place ;)

Looks like a fan clearance issue not cooler. Have you mounted them as low as you can?

Mine on Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Rev 1.6 w/ i7 920 the radiator top is 168mm from motb0. Fans are only 2mm above cooler; 170mm from mobo.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a331/doyll/th_PhantekswithTR-TY-143 in pic is 140x150mm and stock is 140x140mm so both fit the same.

Cooler size comparison
K2 . = . 140x128x158mm 146x154x160mm w/fans (WxDxH looking from front of case)
D14 = . 140x130x160mm 140x158x160mm w/fans
TC14 = 140x134x160mm 140x159x171mm w/fans
SA . = . 147x123x160mm 151x149x160mm w/Fans
SB-E. = 155x105x164mm 170x130x170mm w/fans
Extreme 155x105x164mm 155x130x165mm w/fans Reason it's smaller is 140mm fan vs 150mm fan.
K2, D14 & TC14 are about same except TC14 has 2x 140mm fans.

I'm glad I got the D-14 before these newer coolers came out. I would have been choosing between the D-14 and the K2. D-14 is a real premium product, the fans perform well and are very quiet. The heatsink itself is so nice in the flesh, feels like 100% pure quality in your hands and looks great too.

The 120mm front fan means less fiddly with ram, the clips are easy to use and in my opinion looks better than the TC14 though the extra colour schemes are nice if you are after that kind of thing. and I also think the SB-E is hideous, though I'm convinced the SB-E the best at cooling. I think the K2 is the best all rounder due to price, but think the D-14 is the best investment if you want cooling/quiet/looks.

The D-14 is really easy to mount also, you just secure the mounting plate on the motherboard, then all that's left is 2 x screws which are built into the heatsink itself so no fiddling around with mounting bars, they supply a perfect long L shaped screwdriver which I love using for hard to reach places.

Only bad thing I can say about the D-14 is that the red on my fans has faded a bit over time. Also the fan clips are only compatible with open corner fans.

D14 is great cooler. K2 has 120mm front fan too. TC14 fan clips are wonderful to use. I think TC14's flat top with no pipes sticking out looks cleaner than others and white model is actually silver cooler with white fans. TC14 mounts with 2 screws to mobo mount. Both K2 & TC14 come stock with PWM fans. SA SB-E is very wide.. You need 85mm CPU centerline to PCI slot clearance. And yes it is hideous looking... but isn't that what sidecovers are for? :D

I'm just glad I got mine cheap before I knew about all the others just as good to choose from. :D

No matter where I place the fans, the actualy metal of the cooler, in this picture I moved the fans out a little... its the fact that there usuaklly a side mount that sticks INTO the case and this right where the copper of the cooler is...
