Went from a arctic cooler pro to a megahalem and its the best decision ive made. Brought down max load temps from 71c to 55c ! Thats at 3.4ghz vid 1.3250 vcore 1.45

I don't know about that best heatsink but I'll tell ya this one will have no problem at at all cooling a Q6600 . . .

ThermoLab Baram

It's almost identical to the Thermalright Ultra Extreme but I think it's better at working with low-speed/Quiet fans or even with no fan at all!

I was impressed when I read about this coolers results but some of the reviews pointed out it had a dodgy mounting system where you had to attach the screws from underneath the board which is obviously not great *however* this was replaced quite quickly with a totally improved mounting system where you just have four thumbscrews that tighten from above, very swish heatsink trust me, great price, loving the performance and loving the mirror base finish!

The top end coolers all perform relatively similarly.

I myself have a Megahalems in push pull with the fans running pretty much silently (very low RPM) and I am very happy with it.

Keeps my Q6600 at 3.8 at around 48 at full load (50 if the central heating turned up, partner has a fetish for it being too warm!)

In my opinion the Thermolab Baram is better than the Megahalem and I've tested both myself with a pair of Noctua fans.

It's much easier to install as well!

The Megahalems is hardly difficult compared to some of the contraptions out there and it is also one of the more secure mounting systems I have felt, at least in my own opinion.

Most mounting systems tend to be secure but with the Megahalem I found that when you try to place that center bracket, you have to make sure the cooler does not move and that it stays aligned with the side brackets. In the end I always ended up moving the cooler causing the thermal paste to spread unevenly.

I test a lot of coolers and the Thermolab Baram was very good to work with, so much so that it's one of the only coolers I have kept. The original mounting kit was horrendous but they improved on it vastly!

Don't get me wrong, the Megahalem is still an excellent cooler but the Thermolab is cheaper and comes with 2 sets of wire clips for a 2 fan configuration.

I'm not arguing really, I have used a fair few but not as many as you, it was just my own feelings on it.

I fitted the Megahalems rather easily but maybe I was just lucky with keeping it lined up :).
