Best CPU Cooler.

Got my lapped TRUE Black installed at last Q6600@ 3.4Ghz idling around 35C & 60C loaded (Prime) Core 1 & 2 showing a 10C difference under load from core 3 & 4:confused:

Been a while since i used air cooling ,this seem ok folks ?

Looks good so far, what grade of grit did you go upto?

Started with 240>400>800>1500> Some micron paper(blue stuff in pic) to polish

Rob, is your cpu lapped as well? It only work if both surfaces are flat.

Best, I have read (upon numerous occasions), is the true BUT to me the Sunbeam core contact cooler looks the best bang for buck by a mile :D

Am running the Tuniq myself and at mid-speed setting it's both cool & quiet.(Q9550 @ 3.4 under 40c idle & max 50c under load).

Have nothing against the Tuniq but the Sunbeam is supposed to be the better cooler & it is a little cheaper.

Only negative for the Sunbeam is that I read that it uses the awful push pin fitting (I think thats what they call it ; standard Intel cooler method) which I HATE.

I really don't see the point in spending a good bit of money on a heatsink only to have to go and lap it!!

Sunbeam or OCZ Vendetta 2 look interesting.

Yup......cpu is lapped as well bud;) reseated the heatsink this morning with some AS5 & is now hitting 45C under load using prime, Cores temps have evened out as well. Hitting 60C with IntelBurn Test. Pretty impessed with this heatsink now, hard work getting it flat though

I've got a Noctua heatsink, with 2 Noctua 120mm fans, and I am very happy with it. It keeps my Q6600 around 27 degrees idle, and max is 50 on LOAD, with Intel Burn Test. During gaming it doesn't rise above 44. That at 3ghz as well.

Thermal probe in my case reports temperature in the case to be 25. So 2 degrees above case temp is awesome for me.

If you want a truly insane heatsink, try the Thermalright Copper heatsink.

Way better than the thermalright copper you mean?

I don't have a spare £80 to spend on one anyway. But you have to say, it looks pretty cool though.
