Best CPU from these

I finally have the money and currently the only choice I have for a Core 2 Duo CPU is
6300 1.86GHz 2MB
6320 1.86GHz 4MB
6420 2.13GHz 4MB

Not much in it price wise, less than 20 euros to go from 6300 to 6420 so shall I just go for the 6420?

You may aswell save yourself that bit of cash and get a 6320 then overclock it.

sorry I forgot to say I'm planning on overclocking it, is there much difference in max speed between a 6320 and 6420?

Depends on your RAM and motherboard. Most motherboards and RAM can go up to a 450FSB these days. You'll find yourself with a nice 3.15Ghz speed on your 7X multiplied E6320. The E6420 would probably hit its limit around 3.3Ghz so your FSB would be 412.5~. That means faster CPU but slightly slower RAM.

Really depends on your personal preference. If you can afford it then you might as well go for the 6420. Bit of extra speed.

The 6420 is supposed to O/C very well, so of those three you mention, that is the one I would go for.

With that RAM I'd go with the 6320 and a DS3 for max clock.

I'd really hunt around for an E6550 or an E6750 tbh.

6420 is a superb chip 25c idle @3.2 ghz never goes above
40c full load on a tuniq tower here.

unfortunately I live in tenerife, a small rock in the middle of nowhere and well behind the rest of the world, we have only just got the 6320 & 6420's so I can't see the 6550 etc arriving for quite some time!!!
