Hello all :)

I have recently upgraded my cpu from a 3700 San Diego which did 2.8 Ghz, to a X2 4400 SKT 939 chip..

For some reason i can't get my Abit AN8 SLi Fatal1ty to give the set voltage i ask for in windows,

When i first tried clocking my AMD 3700 Months ago i used clockgen at first , ive downloaded it now to find that its changed and i can't adjust the voltages.

Does anyone remember the version where you selected your mainboard from a list ?

Or does anyone have any idea why my board won't keep the saved voltage setttings...

Thanks in advance :)

Cool and quiet is disabled btw..

Thats the problem, it seems as if my bios isn't saving the voltage settings for the cpu.

CPU-Z Reports 1.5 volts as 1.35 with this X2 chip.

It reported the volts fine with the AMD 3700.

Ive just updated the bios and its still not reporting the correct voltage  :(

Firstly, update your version of CPU-Z. I was getting some weird readings prior to version 1.35. Now its bang on the nail for Vcore voltage readings.

Second, and I know this might seem a bit silly, but is everything set to manual overclocking in the BIOS ? Sometimes any 'auto' overclock options in the BIOS will automatically set Vcore options, no matter what you adjust it to.

Ive got the latest version of CPU-Z

and i have the voltage control set to Manual in the BIOS,

Its very odd :(

Hmm ive just found and older version of CPU-Z Which reports the correct voltage.

Very strange

The previous owned of this X2 Chip ( Smids ) Had it @ 2.8 Ghz ( 255 x 11 With 1.45 Volts )

I'm currently running it @ 2.6 ghz ( 240 x 11 with 1.5 Volts )

But it won't get passed the windows screen if i try any higher :(

Smids was using water cooling and a DFi Lanparty mobo, whereas im using a Scythe Ninja with a big fan and an Abit AN8 SLi Fatal1ty Mobo which is a good overclocking motherboard in the reviews,

Does anyone have any ideas as to what im doing wrong,

Ive got my ram running @ DDR 333 Speeds..

You could try eliminating both your memory and your HyperTransport bus as the problems. Set the memory to it lowest divider possible, and set your HTT multiplier to 1x. Try getting the memory to run at lower than its stated speed for normal use.

Then try it again. Different Motherbaords have different stability issues, so if it refuses to boot into windows with the lower memory/htt settings, you may have to up the volts on Vcore.

Hmmmmm. I take it you've locked out the PCI/PCI-Ex buses to their defaults of 33/100Mhz ?

Also, set Command rate at 2T, CAS ratings to the slackest timings you can, and give yaself as much headroom as possible.

Good Luck! ;)
