best cpu thermal paste

Arctic Silver 5 is very commonly regarded as the best paste around. The mx-2 is still going to do a very good job though, and it's cheaper.

im just ordered the AS5 and the arcticlean aswell hope it does the job

i was thinking about getting the cleaning stuf but my dad said not to waste my money and just use the industrail meths from his chemical engineering days that we have at home :P worked amazing at removing old paste :)

The only problem you might have is that it may leave an oily residue, I just use alcohol that you can get in any chemist, in fact the last lot I got whilst I was in Spain as it was dead cheap.

All Spanish alcohol is cheap :p
But yea, I used surgical spirit last time and that worked too. Except when I spilt half the bottle over the table and onto a HDD sitting there

The new Noctua is shown to be better than all, some say MX2 stains Copper.

I use AS5 but its no longer the best.

(Think I posted review here).

Reviews I've read point to MX2 - although I use and am happy with AS5.

The difference in temps between the quality stuff seems pretty minimal in any event.

MX2

And one thing - MX2 is not conductive, unlike AS5, so it gets my vote on that as well. Not that it SHOULD matter, but accidents can happen. I'v been OK so far

Another vote for MX-2 here. IMO better than AS5 in every way but thats my opinion. Would like to try some of that Noctua NT-H1 stuff or possibly diamond based paste ;)
