Looking for some white caulk that will work well on large gaps - i.e. about 5mm.

Got an old house and just put on the skirting but various bits around the doors, curved walls etc have made it hard to get everything super flush.

Any recomendations?

In all honesty, I’d be inclined to use some poly in the gap, just below the surface then caulk on top - worked perfectly when I redid all the skirting in our hooded. Old houses just don’t ha e straight walls!!

Otherwise any old flexible sealant and just cut the nozzle a bit lower down.

As for brands, I normally just use anything by Sika or the screwfix no nonsense stuff is pretty reasonable too.

Oh yeah for sure, I always just take whatever leftover stuff I've got and fill behind large gaps so I'm not wasting the "good stuff". Just my last caulk was all pulled away from the wall and I had to redo it 2 months after :D

Do you chaps find the paint goes really glossy over caulk? Have a noticeable weird line in the kitchen where it was caulked, it attracts dust more than the other bit and the paint has a definite shine to it.

I had similar when I used some B&Q own brand stuff in the past. When I last used it I had some fine modelling sandpaper, about 400 grit, which I just gently used to key it slightly before painting. Worked well.

its probably much smoother than he rest of your wall so reflects the light better
