Best DPI for gaming?

i have 3 different settings on my mouse, and for most games i use the middle one, but on skyrim, fps games i use the highest settings 3000dpi iirc.
 
Mine is as above, mine goes up to 5600DPI and I never use over 3800. A decent mouse will let you change it to a value you prefer, there are probably more important things than DPI when considering a mouse I'd say (unless its got a really low DPI)
 
Using a logitech g500 here. Generic windows drivers. The mouse has been set to highest since i got it. 5700 dpi iirc, ive never bothered with the logitech setpoint software.
 
preference id say. im 800 dpi on an mx518, as long as i can do me old 180's on a flick its about right for me. but i use the mouse buttonas to change it higher when needed in games
 
Get a mouse that will let you change the DPI on the fly whilst gaming, I do this with my RAT 5. Although beyond that it is totally down to personal preference what DPI settings you use.
 
Using a Logitech G9X with setpoint software installed. Set mouse smoothing to 0 in the software (which completely disables it), allowing the dpi modes to be used properly. I use the top dpi setting of 5700 as its brilliant for snapping to targets in FPS games. I have 4 lower modes all available to me at the click of the side switch below the left mouse button though allowing me to slow the dpi down to do more accurate long range sniping as an example in the same games.

Without turning mouse smoothing off in setpoint (even though its off in windows), the top dpi level spans the entire screen in about 1mm of mouse movement.
 
i use a really old Logitech mx1000 and that only has 800 dpi i tried a mates 5600dpi mouse and didn't notice any difference really
