That's not me btw.

Questions. I've been having a go myself at the pc NFS shift demo and always come last. How important is it to stick rigidly to the racing lines? Also, why does the car help me by slowing itself down as it approaches a red line? I'm using manual gears so surely the car should only slow down if I brake. Am I meant to set any deadzones on the wheel or leave it at 0?

You probably have thousands of assists turned on, hunt them down in the menu.

I don't know about NFS as I only play real man sims (:p) but it's important to learn the fastest consistent racing line through each track and the fastest off line route if you're going to overtake. If you're using a racing line indicator then use it for a few laps then turn it off. It's too easy to follow the line and recommended speed but never really understand the track. Once you turn them off aim for the apex and carry as much speed out of the corner as you can. I don't really know what else to suggest without knowing how you drive, practice makes almost perfect.

Also, is that vid set to cosmetic damage only or something? Is there no penalty apart from the blur for crashing in NFS?

that is very bad driving thats worst than me with keyobard and mouse with Grid and no assists :p

hahhaha shift has a very good system telling you, you just crashed :P
also the car would have stopped working if that was on GRID :P

Hahaha, the crash at 1:16 is recklessness at it's best, I've got tears running down my face from laughing, he just doesn't care :D
I'm not much better though but I do try and avoid crashes.

Ah yes, I had braking assist on, perhaps that's why the car slowed down at red markers. Ok, I've taken 2 screenies. The first one I turned everything off, do you think that's wise?

What about this second screenshot, those settings are default when wheel is connected, should I alter any of them?

Also, when players race online, do they use manual or automatic? Surely automatic would give an advantage since there's less to think about?

Depends if they've practiced using manual, manual is better if you know how to use it.

I've done manual in NFS Underground 2, it was way quicker than using automatic, it just get's really tricky when the track begins to get twisty.

All off, good man! If things get a bit hairy to begin with turn ABS back on, but you'll be a better person if you just learn with it all off :D

I'm not sure how NFS works (only played it a couple times), but I would also turn the handling model to the highest it will go, I think that makes car handle more like the real thing. That will makes things trickier, but that isn't a bad thing.

I'll give it a go. :) Question to anyone, in the full version, can I go around any track I want (or that's unlocked) by myself with no lap limit, just so I can learn the track?
