I know its subjective but been a while since I last saw a post on it!

I've used Jonstone's Covaplus the last few rooms and it goes on great but I find it marks and scuffs quite easily and as Im going one of the kids rooms I thought I might try something else this time.

What is everyone's go to?

My go to for walls for stuff like that is Dulux Endurance, though I use Johnstones trade paint on ceilings and other stuff.

EDIT: Though the prices have gone crazy since I last bought.

Dulux Washable has been my go to and has worn really well in all areas especially my hall where it's taken all sorts of dirt from renovations and just wipes down, although it's 3 years old and could do with a bit of a recoat in some places now from knocks. Same with the kitchen as well where i've recently redone the splashback area as the stains were slowly making the wall discolour, quick recoat and back to like new.

Dulux Diamond paint. I used White in 2013 and 10 years later it still scrubs clean no problem. Lovely and bright too.

The only issue is that it's so expensive.

My GF recently used Dulux Light and Space but I don't really think it was any brighter than standard emulsion and it's durability seems good but not up to Diamond standard.

Dulux Trade Durable Flat Matt for non bathroom / shower rooms, Dulux Trade Diamond for bathrooms etc. Kitchens you could use either, the Flat Matt is better if its not so likely to need regular wiping down as it has the least sheen and highlights less irregularities in the smoothness of the walls. We used this in several rooms including the hallways and stair wells. This stuff is far superior to the regular consumer Dulux range from the big shed retailers, as that is just so watery these days and basically soluble when wiped down with a wet cloth.

The Flat Matt 5l is ~£65 for mixed colours at the moment from Decorating Warehouse as I've just been looking myself for a bedroom remodel. Quite pricey but it is a thick emulsion and you should water it down according to the instructions as two thinner coats would provide a better finish. If you need it in a hurry and do some trade with Travis Perkins they might do you a better deal if you have one local.

If it's white, weigh a known volume against other brands. White pigment is heavy and using weight is a good estimate of how much pigment is in a given brand. It's the pigment that gives the coverage density. As a useless aside it's also why you rarely see F1 cars in predominantly white livery as it's heavy.

Farrow and Ball has excellent coverage, the modern emulsion is good for washable and still fairly matte.
Farrow and Ball has average coverage. Granted the Modern Emulsion gives a nice heritage look whilst still being wipeable.

The estate emulsion covers badly, takes double the amount of tins it should (thus doubling the already high cost), then if you go within 10ft of it, it marks itself with smudges and oils that can never be removed. Fantastic look when new, but should only be used in rooms that are photographed for Pinterest/Houzz and not used much :p

I ended up going with Dulux Trade from the Dulux Decorating Centre as they had 20% off. Paint went on really well and has a really nice finish!

This although I prefer the estate emulsion! I don’t know how anyone puts up with modern hard wearing washable emulsions none of them are anything like matte you might a well just eggshell the walls! If I’m feeling cheap I can stomach the Johnstone’s colour matches.
