Hi all.

I need an external HDD. It needs to be USB, at least 100GB and very reliable, fast, etc. My budget is £60 max.

Any recommendations?

Firewise is faster (less CPU overhead) :)

I take it you mean Firewire and that was a typo?
I don't know much about Firewire at all. Will older computers 5years+ be able to support firewire?
My parents have an old Dell desktop PC which is quite old and the data needs to be backed up, so the HDD will need to work OK with it.
I will also be using it for backing up my data, and storing music, movies, photos, etc on my laptop.

You can add a firewire card to your PC quite easily even on a PC 5 years old. We sell them in the Controller Cards section. They're only a few quid although most firewire drives tend to be combos so pushes the price up.

Ok thanks. I think I will go for the one you recommended. It does look really nice.

I will let you know how I get on. :)

Just an update.

I went for the Western Digital Elements 320GB external harddrive in the end. I am VERY happy with it. It's fast, reliable, stable, extremely well built and very solid and very quiet too.

5 out of 5! :D
