Best Extraction Shooter?

Hey All,

I've been in the mood for a decent extraction shooter the last couple of days, I've watched a few youtube vids so I more or less know what's out there, for some reason 'not sure why' I'm leaning towards Marathon.

So my question is what games in this genre do you play?

Marathon is great imo. Usual extremely polished Bungie experience, really tight gunplay, awesome visuals and sound design...great setting and atmosphere.

It's pretty unforgiving though and you will get spanked sideways, hard, at first. You really need to persevere and learn the maps....concentrate on Perimeter at first until you know it inside out. Get a feel for distances between spawns, how much time you have, how far noise travels etc. Headphones are an absolute must.

I wish I wasn't so busy and had more time to play it atm!

If you dont mind some melee and some Napoleonic era weaponry, and if you like lots of atmosphere and aesthetics, keep an eye on the upcoming game The Hunger. Its slightly flying under the radar but anybody who likes slow paced, slightly stealthy, really good looking extraction games should keep an eye on it. Its impressed me (especially anyone who is a fan of things like Hunt Showdown)

Escape from Tarkov.

I considered this the best for years but it's still riddled with cheaters and bugs, plus the sound etc still sucks donky dick 8 or however many years later and will obviously never be fixed.

Probably the best broken-ass game ever but the devs have always seemed somewhat incompetent.

Added to Wishlist, looks good.

If you've never done it before the survival mode in the original The Division is quite an interesting experience - personally don't really have time for it because it is quite demanding to do a run and I often can't dedicate myself that much to a game but if you are into these kind of games an interesting experience in the genre.

did not know that was a thing - loved the original but couldn't keep up with the builds/gear so moved on from it but might just have to reinstall it to have a look as this survival mode.

I play quite a bit of witchfire, even though I am generally not very good at them, very well designed and fleshed out game I think

Witchfire and Duckov are excellent , Incursion Red River and Grayzone Warfare if you want some realism fps extraction.

Well darn, I turned up to jokingly suggest Duckov and turns out a) I'm not the first and b) OP is 100% behind Duckov.

I've just discovered how good Hunt: Showdown 1896 is, it's really, thoroughly good. I was into Arc Raiders a bit back, but the general lack of seriousness absolutely killed that game. Hunt is actually well polished in everything but its UI, which is serviceable. The gameplay is fantastic, very tense, and the game is extremely atmospheric and really gorgeous in places.

For PVE, you can't beat...

4-man co-op, awesome.

Or for larger scale and always online...

which also has a PVP option, if that's what you like.
