Best for Gaming..

The 4770k is basically the same chip with added hyperthreading.

For most games it'll make little to no difference when running a single graphics card. If running multiple cards you may find the 4770k better.

Edit: In response to what people have said below: I'd only pick the 4770k if I already had other parts picked & had the budget, otherwise save cash and get a better graphics card or add an SSD or whatever, as MagicBoy suggested.

I got the 4770k over the 4670k despite being told for my uses (almost solely gaming) that the hyperthreading is not really going to be taken advantage of in most current games.

But I like the idea of it being possibly better, so I went with it.

It has a bigger number so it must be better...
(cholesterol levels/weight/many other things excluded)

I'm running a 4670 non k as I dont do overclocking but might be getting another 290 for crossfire. Is it worth me selling my 4670 and getting a i7 with HT such as the 4770 or haswell refresh?

It's probably worth getting the 2nd 290 first. See if the CPU is holding the GPUs back before upgrading. Can your motherboard overclock?

ok thanks for the massive responses.
i currently have the i5 version, but plan on building another pc... and was wondering if there would be much difference.
I already use SSD, as that is a must for me these days, and would never go back to SATA drives.
I only plan to use 1 GPU so i guess my answer will be the i5..

Thanks People !!

from sandy to haswell 5-10 percent difference.

http://wccftech.com/intel-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-haswell-graphics-compared-10-difference-average/

only difference as mentioned in games i5vsi7 is if you go more than one card you'll notice it otherwise no difference.

hyperthreading has it in its name HYPE :p literally no game makes any benefit of it and even bf people ive asked showed no difference.

so single gpu take your pic 2 cards go i7

If games don't use the extra threads with 1 GPU, they don't use them with 2 either.

Motherboard is fine for overclocking, so K CPUs are worthwhile if you upgrade
