Got a virus roaming the office at the moment, can anyone recommend some good free anti malware software?

Malware Bytes looks good but the free version does not do real time scanning or heuristic checks.

My vote goes for AVG. Its simple, small footprint.

I like the fact I can with a click of the button turn the anivirus off whilst I game and when the shizzle has hit the fan, it has saved my bacon.

What’s better than a program that has pulled you out of enemy fire, when your humvee has been hit by an RPG, and your unconscious under heavy sustained enemy fire?

If "the office" equates to multiple users in a business setting then it's worth pointing out that most of the free AV products are for home/single use only.

Paid version of Malwarebytes Antimalware and MSE running in the background. Avast/AVG/Trend etc are all complete junk.

If I have to clean up a badly infected machine I'll use Malwarebytes followed by Combofix, I've yet to get my hands on a machine it hasn't sorted.

Comodo Firewall is also handy for stopping stuff auto-installing etc.

Cheers guys, yeah we have Symantec Endpoint already, but we've had a few people with viruses etc even with this installed, and it's meant to protect against viruses/spyware at least.

Installed Malware Bytes and put on the free trial of the PRO edition for a bit, should help short term for me at least.

Endpoint ain't going to do jack if you're running unpatched software on the machines.

Why so many people recommending AV programs for malware issues? Malwarebytes anti-malware is the best.

Malwarebytes is just another anti-virus product, especially the paid-for version. They all fall under the same category. Some are better than others at removing threats.

Malware = viruses, spyware etc. It's not "anti-virus" or "malware" as malware is a term which includes viruses - hence why most previously called anti-virus programs now have malware protection built in, otherwise they'd be useless.
