Best Free Antivirus....still AVAST?

I generally install Avast! on peoples PC's that I do healthchecks on... it's not quite as good as Antivir, but it causes less problems and Antivir can generate a LOT of false positives.

ANG is absolute gash, it actually annoys me every time I see some forumite say "Go with AVG it's rly rly good". It's not, it's about the worst for detection and cleaning.

best free AV .. is the user :). No AV can stop that person that likes to click the download and run on that mail from there grandma saying check my new web site out click here !!!! and they do...

*Yawn*

Kaspersky have a special offer going at the moment which means you can get a years worth of 'Kaspersky Internet Security Suite Version 7.0' for £10.74
Or a years worth of the Basic 'Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0' for £7.14

Win, has to be done for that price!

I use Symantec AntiVirus Corporate.v9.0.2.1000 Final which imho is the daddy of AV :D:D

Lose! :p

The worst thing about AVG is the fact that any updating is done in the centre of your screen, whenever the hell it feels like it. "Oh, oh, you were TYPING in that box . . . NOT ANY MORE!!!!"

I used to use it until I found AVAST, now all pc's i do have this installed.

So true, Avast > AVG just a quiet update in the background, but AVG takes over the PC when its updating.

I also don't like the very intrusive ANTIVIR update screens and the advert it loads after it updates. AVAST forever MATEEES!

....AVAST forever MATEEES!

Yarrrrrrrrrrrrrr Me Hearties!!!...

I mean Avast is still my preference!...

I've used it for years since AVG decided to ignore a few virus's and FUBAR'd my machine... I recomend it to all and install it on any machine I build/repair for friends or family... :)

I'd rather be using NOD, but as it turns out i got AVAST on the cheap, and its a nice little AV actually, once you've played around with it enough. I'm more than happy to stick with this for a year and see whats what then...

Personally I think Symantec (aka Nortons) have the most comprehensive virus def database closely followed by both NOD32 and Kaspersky.

I use Symantec Corporate however this is a lot different to Norton. Very low CPU usage and superb virus protection - I personally wouldn't change it now.

M.

Interested to find out too as my NOD32 sub has expired and I may jump ship seeing as this promo code is floating about :)

Symantec Corporate is very good, just wish they would put that out to the home user.
Spose they think with Symantec Corporate , we all know what to do, (IT people) and with Norton they treat people like idiots. (they must know its a pain they even put out a removel tool :)

I'm using it after a few recommendations on here.

Great AV, it found some malware of some kind when i changed over from AVG.

Nice program apart from the advertisements which actually don't bother me that much.

You can disable the service that does this. Google will tell all :)
