Best free defragger.

As title really.. Whats the best free defragger out there. Also whats the best pay defragger, and is it significantly better than the best freeware one?

standard one built into windows seems to be good

standard windows has always run fine for me.. why pay for one?

Because the windows one is slow as hell, it also doesn't allow you to change things like the MTF or set up any decent sort of scheduling.

I use Diskeeper 9 (the paid version) and it works okay for me, it's a lot faster than the windows defragger.

I didn't bother upgrading to version 10 though as I didn't like the look of the new interface.

If you want a freebie defragger why not try out Diskeeper Lite?

I just downloaded Diskeeper 10 Pro Executive 30 day trial - I love trial software

- and it seems to have done an amazing job. I defragged using MS Defrag before installing and then it still found files to be defragged. Seems like a nifty little program.

PerfectDisk is fine for the first few weeks, then it develops an error which their support team has been working with me for the last few weeks on sorting:

Thanks guys. Ive given Diskeeper 10 a try. Lol, you should have seen my files drive, it was 89% fragmented.. I don't think ive defragged it in over 4 years

89%?!?!?!

It was still running?!

I defragged my parents computer this weekend - 1yr 2month old windows install - 47% defragged. It now boots and runs much quicker thankfully.

lol, just about. The thing is mainly used for graphics files.. so im constantly writing tiny files to it. The defreg managed to halve the average seek time.
