best FTP server software ?

I've been using WarFTP on a few servers for ages. Does what I need and is FOC. GUI is a little quirky at times but quite easy to understand IMHO.

im trying file zilla but not having much luck (never really set one of these up before.)

There's nothing much to it really. You create a connection profile by providing connection and login details. Click connect, then use the right hand pane to navigate through the remote site.

The left hand side is your side local machine. Drag and drop as approriate.

It's only a graphics representation of the FTP commands as provided by the TCP/IP suite. Obviously, you must have the correct login details and sufficient authority in the first place.

Best FTP server software?

The only FTP server I actively know of on Windows is FileZilla Server, but for all things Unix I like PureFTPd.

i tell it to "start filezilla server" then i start the Fzilla interface and it pops up with a box asking me for the server address and admin password. but i havent configured these yet??? but it wont let me log on to configure these without having them in the first place ? wtf ?
