What was the best game you played in 2014 on the PC you thought was next gen?

Thats could be visually or other.

Mine would have to be Ryse: Son of Rome. I was blown away by the visuals. And it ran so well on my 970.

Does ice enhancer for GTA IV actually help in the way the engine runs? As it runs like dog as it is out of the box.

Skyrim fully modded with all types of gameplay, graphics, sound, and immersion improvements is really the only game I could truly call next gen at the moment. It's astonishing it really is. Next gen isn't just about visuals to me, it's how a game pulls you in on so many different levels.

Wolfenstein : New Order

some of the sequences were mind blowing! It's actually the first shooter I've played in a while that has blown me away.

next gen?

IL2 Battle of stalingrad is up there for me, yeah its very much a marmite game in the flight sim community but what theyve done with damage modelling and graphics has pushed the bar up in that respect and to me thats what makes it 'next gen'

Shadow of Mordor. Great to play first off, and I often just stopped to admire the visuals. I wouldn't say it's the best looking game ever, but there's just something about how Middle-earth looks.

for me alien isolation. I think it looks brilliant. everywhere I look the game just looks incredible. runs great too.

Nothing, the term "next gen" ive only heard since the latest consoles came out and im not even sure what it means accept to resell the same game with slightly better graphics and to fix bugs.

I have to say tomb raider, purely for the hair. Every other game I play, especially games like dragon age, I think how much better it would be if their hair wasn't made of plastic.

Alien Isolation, not only does it look great it runs great too and the sheer amount of detail in the game compared to the films is incredible.

Half Life 2 with Cinematic Mod 2013 (Nov 2014). This mod adds so much more atmosphere to this old game and many many more trees making it feel like you have to learn some of the maps all over again.

The sad thing is that I just cant think of any game which truly felt "next gen" to me. There wa sa few I enjoyed though. Wallenstein New Order springs to mind and Alien Isolation.
