I recently bought a SNES and have been playing some Mario Kart

I still think Mario Kart original is the best game ever made. We said last night we would have a best of 3 on Mario circuit one... 18 races later my house mate beat me 10 - 8!

A few years back we had a Mario Kart tournament that ended up lasting a week. A LOT of beer was consumed. Me and one of my housemates almost got teeth knocked out by another housemate who boomeranged a controller around the room when he narrowly lost a match

Original rainbow six is my favourite game of all time, I wasted so much time planning missions when I was younger then modding it and blasting handgun shotguns instead, hours of fun.
 
It's tough, really tough. On one hand I want to say FFVII, although I probably enjoyed it more than any other game I don't think it is the best of all time for me.
It would probably have to be Deus Ex or C&C.
 
For sheer enjoyment yes Mariokart would have to be up there. Hmm but fave of all time? Mario 64 or Goldeneye or even Ocarina. Definite Nintendo theme there but hey-ho they used to do it better than anyone else. Not sure if that's still the case, though :)
 
RTCW multiplayer. Every fps since felt dumbed down after that. Golden Eye, Mario 64 and Secret of Mana all come close seconds.

RE2, Shenmue, FF7, MGS, OOT, Spellcaster, Wonder boy 3: The dragons Trap, Civilization, Legacy of Kain, Command and Conquer- Tiberium Sun, Starcraft, Birth of the federation, Imperium Galactica, Master of orion, Gabriel Knight: Beast Within, Phantasmagoria, Broken Sword 1&2

Yep, a lot of games mentioned there. And any single one of them could be a contender. FYI, I have this list saved, so just posted it up, it is basically my list of master pieces, and all games I am very happy to have played.
 
I've put so many hours into Dark Souls, both PS3 and PC versions I'd have to say it's becoming, if not already my top game of all time. No other game in recent years seems to have that time melting/immersive quality of Dark souls, played through the night many times not realizing until first light that I'd literally been lost in the game all night.

Just started Demon's Souls which I hadn't previously played and this seems to be having a similar affect on me, I can't quite quantify what makes these two games so addictive/immersive, but imo they're up there with the best of all time. I can go from feeling crushed and hopelessly out of my depth to completely overjoyed/empowered within a short space of game time.
 
Street Fighter 2

I spent far more time playing that than anything else. Even the 140 hours I've spent on Skyrim pales in comparison.
