Best game to learn about the japanese empire?

Hey guys as title really. Can anyone reccomend a good game like civ4 or similar to learn about the history of the japanese empire?

I agree its to go with books, just actually playing through the dynasties is closest you can get to being there. Will help the process of remembering it all.

Read a book to be honest. They've got such an amazing history that it's not a chore.

I'd actually start recent rather than ancient history - look up stuff starting with Commodore Matthew Perry and covering up to WW2.

Japan was basically a closed country until he forced them more or less at gunpoint to open up. It explains a lot of why they think / act they way they do.

If I wish to learn things my first thought is books, libraries and research on the internet not "Ohhh what game can I play to learn about Cathar Supression by Pope Eugene III"

lol I like the idea though. I imagine I would have done a lot better in history class if civ4 counted toward a course credit.
