Sorry, I know this has probably been done to death but atm, I've got a Logitech Bluetooth mouse and Keyb. I should have done some swatting up before the purchase but I've found that Bluetooth is absolutely useless for gaming.

I know that a wired solution would be better but I sit about 8 feet from the PC and don't want any wires trailing about.

From experience, are there any good wireless solutions out there that will do a decent job?

Cheers.

I've had no experience of wireless keyboards, but I've been through a fair few wireless mice, the best by far being the Logitech G7. It's the best wireless mouse I've tried to date for gaming.

Yeah it may lack the silly number of buttons that other wired equivalents boast, but it's rock solid stable, can be used at 25 meters or more (I've actually tried this myself) and the build quality and durability is outstanding. The instant battery "reload" feature is amazing, it's *fun* when your battery dies because you can switch the dead one with the one that's been charging in the single USB port powered charger.

The charger has a USB pass-through attached for you to use the wireless receiver with just one USB port, no messing around with docking stations (which is something I really hate about other wireless mice).

Spec-wise, you're looking at 2000dpi (selectable, 400, 800, 2000dpi by default but the software lets you change to use up to 5 levels and different values like 1600dpi etc), not the best in today's market but definately ample for most uses. The battery lasts around 8-12 hours in my experience, but that's 8-12 hours of solid use and there's no "sleep" feature, which means the mouse is always ready to go the instant you move it but obviously this eats the power quickly, I can see why they made the battery so easy to switch out.

But yeah, I can't fault the G7, I won't be changing it any time soon, not unless Logitech release an even better version. :P

I personally love the MX1000, I'm not a twitch gamer, so the fact it is heavier and apparently less responsive than the G7 isn't a problem to me. Loads of buttons too.

At the end of the day it comes down to what you are most comfortable with.

What I found with the MX1000 is that it has really poor tracking for fast acceleration :\ and it didnt work with my Icemat :(

The mouse was nice to use, comfy with plenty of buttons etc but if I moved my mouse quickly accross around 12 inches ( rough size of my mousemat ) then I would only get about 2-3 inches of movement of the screen :\

Aside from that, I would avoid wireless anything like the plague unless I also had wired alternatives ready to use at all times.

PF, I'm fairly sure its the MX1000 I've got atm. Is yours Bluetooth also or do thet do an alternative version?

It's a good mouse, I just can't put up with the lag I seem to get on it every two minutes or so with no apparent fix for this (loads of comments on Logitech forums with no solution). Do you suffer from this?

I've got S510 and MX1000 no lag issues at all - just make sure you install the latest setpoint and keep your chipset drivers for your mobo updated.

I have the logitech g7 and do a lot of online gaming and tbh I haven't noticed any lag at all and like somone said previously the hot swap with the batteries is an ace incentive to get this mouse over some of the other alternatives.

I've had a Logitech MX3100 set for nearly 3 years now and it's always been really good for gaming. Looking to switch to an MX5500 set very soon though.

Great keyboard, I found the mouse that it came with had quite a bit of in-game lag though.

Cheers, thanks for that.

So, the best wireless mice don't seem to be avilable as part of a package (G7 for example). If I buy a wirless keyboard and mouse separately but from the same manufacturer, can I use one dongle for both, or will I need two?
