Best goal ever?

Not the best goal ever, but boy was it a stunning goal

To hit it the way he did as sweetly as he did, amazing

Aye it was pretty incredible, although Ive scored several of them, on pro evo, I still think Maradonna's goal is the best.

i kno their are amazing individual goals but clarence seedorf's goal is absolutely insane. The one from about 45yards that screams into the top corner like a bullet.

Clarence Seedorf's goal was just immense, Ive never seen a ball kicked so hard in all my life.

Roberto Carlos's free kick is worth a mention as well.

I personally think that setting has to count for something in these goals, you can have the best goal in the world technically on a five a side game but there is never going to be the same pressure as that in a World Cup final. No disrespect to either Vasquez or the Swedish league but they don't inspire the same awe in me as a major championship although it was a sweet goal from a skill point of view.

For that reason alone I'd probably go with Maradona v England (and I do pretty much just mean Maradona, he carried that Argentina team), Archie Gemmill v Holland (ok I'm just biased here, I almost mentioned Dave Narey's "toe-poke" v Brazil - **** Jimmy Hill) and rounding up the top three would be Weah for Milan v Verona, I still remember watching that goal on Football Italia - stunning is the only way I can describe it.

That was an absolute scorcher, the hite was insanely powerful but if you see it from the angle behind the goal the keeper is acting like an absolute clown and he has to take some blame for the goal.

That is no way the best goal EVER... tbh i dont think he even ment it..

My thoughts too, at first.. however..

Although to be fair it's still no proof he actually meant it.

There are just too many to name, you can't pick one purely because you have to weigh up 'Skill' vs 'Occassion'.

As has been mentioned, some goals are better due to the pressure of the occassion. Weah's goal vs Verona was awesome, and despite technically being better than Giggs', I'd say Giggs' was perhaps the better goal because it was at the end of the match against Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final and Arsenal had the best defence in Europe that season.

I am a sucker for Carlos' free-kick and Seedorf's wonder strike too.

He probably practiced that for hours afterwards so he could go "yeah, this is what I did.." ;)

I'm tempted to go with the Henry goal v. Madrid at the bernabau. Occasion is massive too (no english club won there previously).

Also worth a punt is THE zidane goal (the dropping ball he puts his foot through into the top corner).
(that was number 1 on ITV's top 50 CL goals.

I really like Bergkamp's goal against Newcastle from 01-02. Such a speical goal and there is just no doubt in my mind he meant it which makes it so much more special.

Only a select few in the world could score that goal.

i second that zidane goal, occasion champions league final (not many bigger stages) and great technique to stike the ball so well, has to be up there with the greats.

Oh really? How about Erik Edman's goal for Spurs against Liverpool? :D

Ah good, glad that top50 goals is online now. Nilsson's freekick (#20) is absolutely insane. Also always had a soft spot for Ljungberg's goal (#10), due to the futile attempts from Juve to disposses Bergkamp.
