Best gpu for £160?

1050Ti feels like a bit of a bad way to spend that money. Perhaps a GTX 970 for ~ £150-170 or a 780 for around £80

I would wait, its daft that you can pay almost double what the same card would have cost 18 months ago. Something has to give, either the supply issues will sort themselves out or the difficulty/price on crypto will move outside the window of profitability.

Don't support current prices. Buy used.

Hard to trust sellers these days, but it's true you can get a nice used card but is it worth the risk and besides the MSI 1050 TI is still selling near its original price, unlike the MSI 1060 and above.

Oh sorry I didn't realise it could be had for a decent price.

Even with the price hike from £180 to £200 yesterday (with posting being free for active forum uses), I still give this MSI 1050 ti gaming x 4gb 5 out of 5 stars https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-335-ms.html

If you absolutely have to buy new then a 1050ti is the only option at that price point, however it's worth bearing in mind that a 1050ti is still only offering slightly better performance than a GTX670 or Radeon 7950 (both released 6 years ago!), that can still be had for £50-£60

Crypto hasn't helped, but an uncompetitive graphics market has meant performance increases have been relatively stagnant at the lower end of the market (with any real performance increases being added with newer more expensive halo cards at the top end)

The older generation cards are going to use a lot more power and run hotter/louder - not to mention the risk of buying used/no warranty etc.
As far as I can tell, the 1050Ti seems expensive next to the 1050 at <~£120. The extra £50 for the Ti doesn't look to get you that much more performance.

Good lord I looked up prices on the RX 470 out of curiosity and then decided to check the RX 570. Another retailer has one model in stock at £350! Second hand all the way. The 970 is still a decent card, same for the 290/390 if your friend can stomach the extra heat/power draw.
