Barely, less than 200,000 pixels difference.

Yup, only 156,000 pixels in difference. What I was getting at though is that I play Oblivion in 1280x960 anyway with FP32 HDR and FSAA on, 1600x1200 (or 1680x1050) would crawl on my machine unless I turned a bunch of settings down (shadows in particular.)Energize said:Barely, less than 200,000 pixels difference.
I wouldn't have thought a 7800GTX 512MB clocked to those speeds would be outperformed by a 256MB X1800XT... Even if the engine is biased, I would expect the X1800XT to be left trailing by a moderatly large distance.Úlfhednar said:The Oblivion engine is just ATi biased, especially in outdoors environments. Expect to see equal or better frames on your X1800XT than on your 512MB 7800GTX.
Sorry, I meant at stock. Then again I think he said his X1800XT has been overclocked like mad on watercooling, so it may match it anyway.naffa said:I wouldn't have thought a 7800GTX 512MB clocked to those speeds would be outperformed by a 256MB X1800XT... Yeah, I had the friendly staff here change my name. You know how it is when people whom you don't want to find out your online aliases and try to find out everything they can about you online, so I'm taking measures to protect my privacy and changing usernames isn't the half of it. It's a sad world really.naffa said:Hmmm, fair enough I supose.
Just out of interesst... Have you changed your name recently?![]()

Oh, it's not anybody on here who just has a grudge or anything. It's just someone I know personally, and I prefer to keep my personal matters and internet matters seperate as the internet is a tool of leisure for me to get away from it all and talk about geeky stuff or frag some punks in Battlefield 2.naffa said:Fair enough. Some people are just plain un-nice towards people they disagree with... And it aint niceBut good luck with your plan

780MHz on the core is an ace overclock, so it should whip your 512MB GTX in Oblivion. It'll be equal at the least though.sablabra said:Well I ran my x1800xt@780/870, so it was a decent overclock
Too bad it performs so much worse with nvidia. How is the 7900gtx handling oblivion?
Úlfhednar said:I think it's obvious to anyone that LoadsaMoney meant FP32 blending HDR and antialiasing together, a la Oblivion and Far Cry.No need to start picking at extremely tiny nits now.
