Hey guys, looking to get a gpu upgrade very soon,
Not looking to spend too much but something that will be quite an improvement over my current card.

Specs are:
  • Asus extreme 4 gen 3
  • i5 2500k @ 4.6ghz
  • GTX 460 1Gb DirectCu
  • 16gb Kingston Hyper x
  • 650w BeQuiet PSU
Any suggestions?

I was offered a 560ti 1gb for 80 quid but felt it wasn't worth an upgrade from my card to that.

Any particular reason you need PhysX? Only a few games support and the only game I see any real difference in is BL 2.

Hmm that's a wee bit unfair. There's always huge differences when you compare the games side by side. Look for Youtube videos that compare the two.

Alright let me rephrase that :p

The only game I think it adds too is BL 2 :p

I have just got into Batman AC and the PhysX effects are sweet. I am not getting involved in the argument of "It isn't worth it" or "It is worth it".

What is your budget Dugga?

Hey guys, my budget as been revised, its going to be around £300 now, hopefully getting a new card this week or next, anyone have any more suggestions? Im terrible at picking between multiple things.

Stuck between:
This
This
This
This

Or
This

I just cant make up my mind about amd or nvidia.
I'm mostly stuck between a GTX 670, 660Ti OR a 7970/7950.
Help...

I think when considering value together with performance the 7950 still hits the spot for way under your 300 quid budget (from your list).

would just like to pitch in on the subject of physX, I've just picked up Mafia 2 again, and was excited about the prospect of physX, as I played on a AMD radeon 5850 before, but after some benching last night, it still seems to much of a waste of power: I was still hitting below 15 fps by the end of the run, even with physX only set to medium. this is on a 670 windforce. disabling physX allowed me to crank all the other eye candy back up, whilst getting far more playable framerates. I will admit though, that the start of the run with physX on high looked breathtaking; chunks of concrete flying everywhere between the bullets....maybe when I SLI ;)
